Since upgrading to Windows 10 on my Surface Pro 3, I've experienced periodic video issues that have resulted in bluescreens. DisplayLink drivers are generally used in situations where you have multiple monitors. In my case, I run the Surface Pro 3 in its dock, with three monitors connected through USB to a. As is the case with most problematic apps and drivers after the Windows 10 upgrade, a reinstallation seems to help in most cases.
Obviously, you can walk through the process of digging into Device Manager in Windows 10 control panel to uninstall the DisplayLink USB drivers and then reinstall the drivers from scratch, but there's an easier way. Here's how • Download (don't run yet) the DisplayLink Installation Cleaner: • Download (don't install yet) the latest DisplayLink drivers: • Run the DisplayLink Installation Cleaner. Don't freak out when your multiple monitors suddenly go blank during the uninstall. The cleaner removes DisplayLink software and drivers automatically. • After the DisplayLink cleaner finishes, reboot. • On first boot, only the primary display will show. Login to Windows 10 and install the downloaded DisplayLink drivers. • Once the drivers are installed, reboot once more. • On next boot, login to Windows 10, jump into All Settings >System >Display and reconfigure your multiple monitor setup.
